Based on the classic 1892 Henry Lawson short story, Leah Purcell's 2019 novel is a compelling thriller of our pioneering past that confronts head-on issues of today: race, gender, violence and inheritance. The upcoming film adaptation stars Purcell (who also wrote the screenplay and directed the film) and features Rob Collins (Cleverman, The Wrong Girl), Sam Reid (Lambs of God, The Railway Man), Jessica de Gouw (Arrow, Gretel & Hansel), Malachi Dower-Roberts, Tony Cogin and Harry Greenwood.
The Drover's Wife: The Legend of Molly Johnson is produced by Bain Stewart for Oombarra Productions and David Jowsey, Angela Littlejohn and Greer Simpkin for Bunya Productions.
