Discover the expanding universe of one of Argentina’s most distinctive cinematic voices.
From the lethargic smalltown summer of her debut feature film La Ciénaga (2001) to the intoxicating fever dream of historical epic Zama (2017), the framing of Martel’s cinematic worldview has been steadily widening. Her output began with a trilogy of films set within her hometown of Salta (La Ciénaga, The Holy Girl, The Headless Woman) and then broadened out to consider post-colonial South America. In 2025, her collaboration with Björk on the artist’s stunning Cornucopia tour as theatrical director added further breadth to Martel’s creative world, captured in Isold Uggadottir's award-winning concert film Björk: Cornucopia.
Today, Lucrecia Martel is considered one of the greatest filmmakers of our time, with a unique visual style and a penchant for building tense, almost viscous atmospheres in her work.
Join us in the cinema as we celebrate the singular artistry of Lucrecia Martel, one of the major figures to emerge from the New Argentine Cinema movement.
