About Beijing Queer Film Festival
This program is curated by Jenny Wu of Beijing Queer Film Festival, one of China’s longest-running queer film festivals. Founded in 2001, the festival has played a vital role in nurturing independent queer filmmaking and fostering dialogue under intense political constraints. Despite operating without government approval — and often forced to shift venues or go fully underground — the festival has remained a rare and powerful platform for LGBTQ+ expression in China and beyond.
