Free UR Head is an open experience using custom-developed real-time XR technology to connect a room full of strangers through shared, unrehearsed movement. This is a work conducted through VR, but felt in the body.
Born from a desire to make technology more playful, social, and accessible, anyone is invited to take part. Seated together with headsets on, you're guided by music and visual cues into subtle, synchronised movement that forms in real time. No experience needed. Just curiosity.
Outside the headsets, something unexpected takes shape, a spontaneous, living sculpture visible to anyone in the space, whether they came to see it or simply wandered past.
Award-winning Taiwanese director Chou Tung-Yen – whose XR work has been selected for the Venice Film Festival twice – is fascinated by what the technology unlocks: not just what each person experiences inside the headset, but what emerges in the room when it does: a room full of strangers, without a word spoken, moving as one. Nobody knows each other. Nobody has rehearsed. And yet.
