Through an anthology of stories from a future India, this groundbreaking performance follows a motley crew who bridge heritage, science and society with a mix of videogames, AI art and classical dance.
Created by Indian electronica pioneers Murthovic (music producer/DJ) and Thiruda (visual artist/VJ) and supported by the British Council’s India/UK Season of Culture 2022-23, Elsewhere breaks new ground in Indofuturism.
Audiences will experience a richly layered world of next-gen characters and electro-classical dance, including Meenakshi, an out-of-work cyborg striving to preserve lost cultural artefacts.
A Hyderabad-based electronic music composer, DJ and sound designer, Murthovic has been working in the electronic music field for close to 20 years. He is the producer of the acclaimed electro-classical dance opera Antariksha Sanchar, as well as the sound designer for Antariksha Studio which is producing two IPs – a new video game called Antara and Elsewhere in India. He has been a student in both the Western and Indian classical worlds of music, while electronic music has been his consistent practice, evident in his touring the festival and club circuit in the country consistently for 2 decades.
Thiruda is an acclaimed media artist, creative director and curator who specialises in creating immersive experiences for electronic music. Working with a network of artists, filmmakers, animators and game developers, Thiruda produces a diverse range of creative projects that present an authentic viewpoint of India to the world. He is a co-founder of Quicksand, a renowned innovation consultancy, as well as UnBox Festival. He is a co-founder of the erstwhile audio-visual collective BLOT! (2007–17) – best known for shaping the Indian live visuals and electronica scene in India.
