Director Seth Gordon takes a highly entertaining look at the cut-throat world of competitive Donkey Kong and the people in its orbit.

Welcome to the world of competitive Donkey Kong.

When introverted family man Steve Weibe beats the Donkey Kong world record, he is catapulted into celebrity, forcing previous record holder Billy Mitchell to challenge him for the title.

With questions mounting about the authenticity of Steve's high score, the two men are pitted against each other in a race to determine who is the King of Kong.

The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival in 2007. Since its release, the film has lived on in different forms. A musical drew inspiration from the film's real-life characters, and rumours persist of a narrative remake and a documentary sequel to this day.

Following The King of Kong, director Seth Gordon has carved out a successful Hollywood career directing films (Baywatch) and TV (The Office, Parks and Recreation).

An engrossing story that plucks at the heartstrings just as hard as it pummels the fire buttons.
