ACCA | Australian Centre for Contemporary Art Presents
Laure Prouvost Screening and Keynote: In conversation with Annika Kristensen
When
Mon 18 Mar
6pm
In advance of her major solo exhibition Oui Move in You, upcoming at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA), join French artist Laure Prouvost in conversation with Annika Kristensen, with an accompanying screening of They Parlaient Idéale 2019.
Screened in Australia for the first time, They Parlaient Idéale 2019 is a short film (28:30 mins) which premiered in the French Pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019 to critical acclaim. This one-off screening, and conversation with the artist, is presented ahead of Laure Prouvost’s forthcoming exhibition Oui Movie In You at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA). Encompassing new commissions and a survey of work created over the past decade, the exhibition will transform ACCA’s architecture into a labyrinthine and other-worldly environment, introducing Australian audiences to the imaginative, absorbing and frequently absurdist hallmarks of Prouvost’s diverse artistic practice.
Laure Prouvost is among the most celebrated artists on the international art scene, with ACCA’s exhibition being the first major presentation of the artist’s work in Australia. Born in 1978 in Lille, France, Prouvost represented France at the 58th International Art Exhibition at the Venice Biennial in 2019, and was the recipient of the prestigious Turner Prize in 2013.
