Step back in time with a curation of mid-20th-century movies shot by amateur Melbourne filmmakers.
Family holidays, beauty pageants, trips to the zoo and an Olympic-size swimming pool in the middle of the city that doesn’t exist anymore! Take an intimate trip down memory lane or see the city as it was for the first time with a selection of home movies from the 1940s to 1960s, taken by the first generation of Australians with access to home film cameras. Shot originally on 16mm, Standard and Super 8mm, these home movies have been loving restored and digitised by ACMI and are part of the ACMI Collection.
