Melbourne International Film Festival lights up Narrm/Melbourne this winter. See films first with over 250 titles premiering in Victoria, from 60+ places of origin in 50+ languages.
MIFF is your big screen experience to a carefully curated program of the best films of the year and hits from the worldwide festival circuit. With inspiring and bold programming, original stories, important voices and films you can't see anywhere else to be enjoyed with enthusiastic cinema-loving audiences that you find only in Melbourne.
Journey with MIFF – your passport to the world – explore different cultures in every corner of the globe. MIFF kicks off with its legendary Opening Night Gala on 7 August with tickets available to purchase by the public to join the celebration with invited guests and filmmaking talent.
In 2025, MIFF presents the most talked about films of the year with world premieres, award-winners and hotly anticipated titles from Cannes, Berlin and Sundance Film Festivals. Many films will be shown for the first and only time in Australia. Plus, a bevy of special events, talks, music performances, filmmaker Q&As, industry panels, MIFF schools’ program, short film programs, XR experiences, Bright Horizons Film Competition, MIFF Awards and fun events at MIFF Festival Hub at ACMI. MIFF is proudly the largest showcase of Australian cinema in the world. MIFF Industry delivers an array of programs ranging across professional development, masterclasses and content financing, attracting the who’s who of industry professionals from Australia and around the world.
This year, MIFF will return to ACMI Cinemas, Kino, The Forum, Hoyts Melbourne Central, IMAX, The Capitol, Cinema Nova and The Astor.
The program includes free and low-cost activities together with ticketed events.
