Our Warrior: The Story of Robbie Thorpe examines Thorpe's childhood and early years in Melbourne‘s inner city suburb of Fitzroy, and his subsequent role in the great legacy of Indigenous resistance to invasion. The powerful documentary explores the emergence of his radical politics as a controversial and uncompromising sovereign black activist. The screening will begin with an introduction from Dr Alister Thorpe

About Dr Alister Thorpe
Dr Alister Thorpe is a proud Gunai, Yorta Yorta, and Gunditjmara man with family and community connections throughout Victoria. Alister is an elected Member for the Metropolitan region with the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria. In 2024 Alister received a Doctor of Philosophy for his research ‘Decolonising ethics, a critical analysis of researchers intended ethical research practices and the role of Indigenous communities in ensuring ethical research.’ Alister is Robbie Thorpe's nephew and will introduce the film.
