Blackmagic Design Media Preservation Lab Tours with Collections Screening

Tour

When

Sat 27 Jul - Sun 28 Jul 2024

As part of Open House Melbourne, get behind-the-scenes access to the Blackmagic Design Media Preservation Lab at ACMI and learn more about our Collection.

The Black Magic Design Media Preservation Lab is a purpose-built, glass fronted laboratory where the ACMI Registration and Collections team undertake preservation activities for analogue, time-based media, digital and complex software-based games and artefacts.

As part of Open House Melbourne, this is an exclusive opportunity to visit the Lab, hear from our conservators and engage with the Collection and preservation activities.

From repair to inventory to digitisation, gain insights into a range of preservation stations and their associated equipment and uses.

From our collection, discover 1950s Melbourne with a screening of Planning for Melbourne's Future (1954), a short documentary on the Melbourne Metropolitan Board of Works’ evaluations of the future needs of Melbourne.
