About David Hannam

A reformed journalist, David began his career as a reporter and producer at ABC TV News & Current Affairs, and later at ABC TV Arts. Migrating to screenwriting almost two decades ago, David is best known for writing the Logie and AACTA-nominated Carlotta for ABC TV and developing the internationally successful Prisoner reboot Wentworth for Foxtel.

His work on multiple seasons of ABC TV’s hit teen series Nowhere Boys garnered numerous awards, including an International Emmy, and opened the door to working internationally. Currently focused on original work, David has a slate of new projects underway in Australia, the US and the UK.

In addition to executive roles at Matchbox and the Australian Children’s Television Foundation, David’s extensive writing credits include Wanted, The Doctor Blake Mysteries, A Place to Call Home, All Saints, Stingers, Bed of Roses and Dance Academy.
