After a late night of drinking, Jane and her photographer boyfriend Tun get into a hit and run accident resulting in the death of a young woman. In the days following, mysterious shadows and faces appear on Tun’s photographs as the couple begin to realise they cannot run from their past.

Curator’s Note

One of the highest grossing Thai films, Shutter is a classic example of Asian Horror. In his debut film, Banjong Pisanthanakun (Alone, Pee Mak, The Medium) slowly unfurls the tale of Jane and Tun, and the consequences of their actions in their past lives. Employing a mix of classic jump scares and horror tropes to amp up the adrenaline, Shutter is often likened to Japanese horrors from the early 2000s era, but stands alone with its unique Thai foundations and cultural context.
