The Sony Handycam DCR-SX65 is what it says: it’s a handy camera. Debuting on the market in 1985, its name came from its compact size that allowed it to fit in the user’s hand and capture their everyday lives more easily. While other models from this era have been discontinued, the Sony Handycam DCR-SX65’s popularity has seen it made in various formats ever since. Home videos might have been their original purpose, but their cost and convivence meant camcorders like this have been used to capture amateur footage that has social and political ramifications all around the world.
