They be little, but they be fierce: the GoPro was designed as an action camera, making it as tough and durable as whatever adventure the shooter was partaking in. Originally invented for surf photography, they’re made to be attached to a body or moving object. Body-worn cameras provide a new perspective on moving image and are linked to the term ‘sousveillance’, which describes the monitoring and recording of an activity by a participant in the activity itself (rather than surveillance, which refers to being watched by authoritarian figures). These types of cameras have been hugely popular in creating videos for social media and digital platforms.
