Not only did Alex Stitt create the first 3D animated feature film with Abra Cadabra (1983) and animate some of Australia’s most iconic commercials, including ‘Life. Be in it’, he also taught kids through play. In 1971, Stitt and Bruce Weatherhead established the Jigsaw Factory in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond. The space was designed for children to have ‘fun in learning’, and the company produced a range of posters, cut-outs, educational toys, puzzles, games and books like this one, Zoetrope to cinemascope, which taught children about the relationship between optical toys and cinema.
