In 1954, Queen Elizabeth II was the first reigning monarch to visit Australia. Huge crowds greeted the Queen and Prince Philip, all captured by newsreel camera crews who followed the royals around Australia. Footage from the tour was also made into the first Australian colour documentary, The Queen in Australia.
