The British Protected Sultanate of Brunei lies on the northern coastline of the island of Borneo, between North Borneo and Sarawak. This film is an account of Brunei’s struggle to preserve the best of an old civilisation while using the new prosperity brought by the discovery of oil in the territory to build roads, schools and hospitals.
