This is a retrospective look at Access Video, an
independent public broadcasting project, using archival
footage shot over a period of nine years Australia wide.The images encapsulate Australian life on a social,
political and cultural level providing a historical glimpse
of the developing community and political activity during
the seventies whilst also illustrating the growth and
maturing of independent video within Australia. NB: Some
footage is of poor quality both in sound and image.
Content notification
Our collection comprises over 40,000 moving image works, acquired and catalogued between the 1940s and early 2000s. As a result, some items may reflect outdated, offensive and possibly harmful views and opinions. ACMI is working to identify and redress such usages.
