This is a seven part series from the BBC looking at the Great War and the shaping of a century through the words of those who endured it. The series is narrated by Dame Judy Dench. The first part, Explosion, contains the first three episodes and details the build up to the War and the first years of the campaign. The second part, Legacy, expplores the War and the consequences of the end of the War, including the Treaty of Versailles and the seeds that were sown for the second World War.
