In the third part of Donskoi’s Gorky trilogy Alexei (Gorky) as a young man struggles to survive in the city of Kazan first as a stevedore and then as a labourer in a bakery where he cannot accept the simple fact of exploiter and exploited. Alexei experiences a crisis in his life from which he emerges with greater maturity. Also available on 16mm. Part 1 (The Childhood of Maxim Gorki) and Part 2 (My Apprenticeship) of the trilogy available on 16mm, 35mm and VHS. ‘The Gorky Trilogy’ is also available as one title on VHS.
