This silent, black-and-white footage of some of the major landmarks of London was shot in 1963–1964 by Australian photographer Robert Lennox Suggett.

Opens with the Royal Marines Band playing, filmed as they march past the Duke of York Column and Waterloo Steps.

00:00:46:00 then Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Alec Douglas-Home, farewelling a visitor on the steps of Number 10 Downing Street (the headquarters of British government).

00:01:11:00 camera pans down Nelson’s Column (a monument in Trafalgar Square, central London, commemorating Admiral Horatio Nelson.) We then see scenes of Trafalgar Square, with the National Gallery building and fountain both visible.

00:01:22:00 camera lingers on the equestrian statue of King Charles I, with the church of St Martin-in-the-Fields in the background.

00:01:28:00 London traffic, with the camera focussing especially on cabs (taxis).

00:01:43:00 the Admiralty Arch.

00:01:49:00 double-decker London bus in front of some classic 1960’s style adverstising signs in Piccadilly Circus, with the Eros statue visible.

00:02:04:00 Eros statue in close-up.

00:02:22:00 Underground (railway) sign in close-up, followed by scenes in the Underground itself; ticket queues, escalators, and a train coming into a platform.

00:02:46:00 “Piccadilly Circus” station sign visible on the wall of the train tunnel

The film ends with footage of the tunnel, shot from the moving train.
