Party – Christine Anu

Australia, 2004

℗ 1994 Mushroom Records International BV. (Anu / Bridie)

Film
An image of Christine Anu, wearing a white top with black suspenders against a chainlink fence

The third single off her debut album, Party (1995) remains Christine Anu’s biggest hit to date. On the surface, the clip seems consistent with other upbeat, pop videos of the 90s with overlaid images and montages to match the mood of the song. However, Anu cleverly incorporated her Torres Strait Islander heritage into the video with choreography that was a mix of traditional dances and modern styles, not to mention a diverse cast of extras and backup dancers.
