In a year many spent locked inside, Nathan Apodaca gliding down a highway on a skateboard, drinking Ocean Spray and lip-synching Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Dreams’ was the tonic we all needed. The 22-second viral video sparked countless imitations, with the band’s drummer and co-founder, Mick Fleetwood, even recreating the carefree moment. He also cashed in on the iconic TikTok video, which was viewed more than 50 million times and coasted ‘Dreams’ back into the charts. Capturing the mood of a tumultuous year, Apodaca’s wholesome performance gave the world some long overdue joy.
Our collection comprises over 40,000 moving image works, acquired and catalogued between the 1940s and early 2000s. As a result, some items may reflect outdated, offensive and possibly harmful views and opinions. ACMI is working to identify and redress such usages.
