In the sixth consecutive day of attacks between Israeli and Palestinian forces, Israel bombed a 15-storey block in Gaza City claiming that Hamas was operating an intelligence cell in the building. Along with the private homes and workplaces in the building, it housed the offices of media organisations Al Jazeera and the Associated Press who were given advance warning of the bombing. Al Jazeera broadcast live, in real time, footage of their own offices being destroyed which went viral changing the international coverage of the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. AP executive editor Sally Buzbee has called for an independent inquiry into the strike, stating “This is an important story and because of the actions yesterday, the world is going to know less.”
