An update from NBA Jam, the Tournament Edition continues to employ the fast and action-packed and unrealistic form of basketball from the original. Up to four players players can take part in the two versus two matches, with each controlling a single person for their team. The computer fills in for for missing players. The Tournament Edition increases each team’s roster to three, and allows for substitutions between quarters. Shoving players now results in injuries, which lower a player’s stats, which subbing recovers. New additions the Edition include randomized zones on the court that reward extra points for making a basket while standing within them, powerups that help with scoring or hurt the other team and Juice Mode, which increases the speed of the game.
