This film shows a family ski trip to Falls Creek. We see the interior and exterior of the Winterhaven Ski Lodge and children being towed along by a ski tow. There are closeups and wide shots of skiers as they navigate their way around what appears to be a beginner’s ski run.
The film shows a children’s group ski lesson, a poma and T-bar lift, children skiing towards the camera and people being towed up the slope by the Village T-Bar ski tow. The children learn to ‘hop’ and the signal for ‘follow me’.
We see an adult couple preparing to ski with what appears to be a 1950s/1960s Volkswagen Beetle and pick-up truck parked in the background.
There are some lovely snow-covered landscapes of Falls Creek with people skiing in the sunshine against the backdrop of a bright blue sky.
A Snow Cat (vehicle) drives through the snow, passing ski lodges on the way.
A teenage boy runs beside a creek at the foot of a snow-covered embankment. We see a fishing expedition to the same creek, where fishing rods are prepared with bait and tackle, and two men and a boy cast their rods into the creek.
On the deck of Winterhaven Lodge, a group of people wearing shorts, swimwear and sunglasses lie on sun lounges enjoying the winter sun with the snow-covered embankment behind them. A woman wearing a bikini lies on a sun lounge beside her male companion who smokes and reads a book. Both are sporting 1960s sunglasses in the winter sun. We see a view from the deck of the ski lodge, showing snow-covered hills and surrounding ski lodges below.
The final section of the film follows a lone skier as he traverses his way down an empty slope.
This film shows good examples of fashion, ski wear, swimwear and sunglasses worn in the 60s. Ski Lodge architecture, vehicles and Falls Creek landscapes in this film are also a great reflection of the era.
