The Great season two costume: Catherine’s war dress

This stunning war dress hints at the harder side of Catherine in season two of The Great. The profile is still flattering and feminine, with the cream bodice and skirt reflecting her bright, innocent colour palette of the first season, but there’s something new here too: unique embroideries by Cathryn Avison that add a splash of ominous but striking oxblood red to the dress.

This isn’t the first time Avyson has embroidered a dress for Elle Fanning – she also hand embroidered the blue dress Fanning wears as Princess Aurora in Maleficient: Mistress of Evil.
