Streaming site Hulu’s long awaiting movie Death on the Nile has gone viral as viewers question the quality of the CGI. Based on an Agatha Christie novel, the murder mystery is set in 1930s Egypt but was predominately shot in the UK. Clips of the worst offending scene have been shared online and retweeted almost 9,000 times, with viewers likening the special effects to low budget productions of the 1990s. Some defended its use, explaining that it was made at the height of the pandemic when people couldn’t travel, while others wondered if it was a ‘stylistic nod’ to the sound stages of Old Hollywood.
