Emulation of Asterix and the Magic Cauldron for Spectrum ZX 48k

Unknown, Unknown

Videogame

Asterix and the Magic Cauldron is a single player adventure arcade game. Players control Asterix through various maps, collecting keys for locked doors and fighting Romans and boars in search of seven pieces of Getafix’s Magic Cauldron. Fights take place on a separate screen mode. Stamina bars for each combatant appear on the side of the window. Defeating the combatant adds it to the food tally. If Asterix loses the fight, the window closes and he loses a life. The same system is used when fighting the Roman soldiers and when Asterix picks up objects.

Obelix will only follow if Asterix has a supply of hams which can be obtained from fighting boars. Asterix starts with five lives and one dose of Magic Potion per game, which can be activated by double tapping the fire button.

Original game developed by Beam Software for ZX Spectrum 48K, published in 1986 by Melbourne House.
