HBO’s Succession is a tragicomedy about how capital and intergenerational trauma corrupts – but you wouldn’t know it from the online fanbase. In this video, Liminalist recuts footage to create a romantic comedy-style trailer about Tom Wambsgans and Greg Hirsch. Through editing and a boppy soundtrack, the trailer reframes their banter as a blossoming romance. The video went viral thanks to ‘TomGreg shippers’, a subgroup of fans who highlight the characters’ loving but sadistic friendship – or theorise that it might be something more.
