Pinky is an eccentric older woman who Grace meets at the local library when she’s sent to Canberra. From floating in the dead sea and bathing with snow monkeys to dancing in a schnitzel bar and outliving two husbands, Pinky has stories to tell and becomes a colourful beacon of support and hope to Grace. Pinky’s character is expressed through her wrinkled and puckered mouth. A team of artists made over a thousand plasticine mouths to make the characters talk, along with hundreds of eyeballs with magnetic pupils, which express the characters’ emotions. A team of stop-motion animators spent thousands of hours moving each character one frame at a time to bring them to life.
