Is Kamala Harris brat? Two weeks before President Joe Biden endorsed Harris as his successor in the US election, @ryanlong03 made this viral video. Introducing a remix of Harris’ joyful moments with a lime green overlay and the fuzzy font of Charlie Xcx’s album brat, the video edit infused the Harris campaign with meme magic. Charlie Xcx retweeted it, her caption confirming “Kamala IS brat”, with the video gaining over 4.3 million views and proving that Harris exists in the context of the internet.

Harris’ campaign team quickly embraced this online phenomenon. It adopted the brat aesthetic, changing the colour of Kamala HQ on the X account to lime green and using the same pixelated font as the brat album. The team even wore T-shirts with the same look.
It’s the perfect Venn diagram of internet culture, pop music and politics.
Let’s see if Harris will announce a potential presidential victory with the hook from the song, “I’m your number one!”
