In ancient Polynesia, the young, soon-to-be-chieftain Moana must enlist the help of the shape-shifting demi-god Maui to find the heart of the goddess Te Fiti, and save her home from encroaching darkness by defying her father and venturing across the sea to confront Te Kā, the volcanic demon who defeated Maui a millennia ago.
