Shows the earliest civilizations of China, including the traditions and legends of the Shangi, Chou, Han, T’ang and Sung dynasties and crucial events in the lives of Confucius, Huang Ti, Marco Polo and the Mongol conquerors Genghis Khan and his son Kublai Khan. Contemporary scenes in Peking’s Forbidden City, on a silk plantation and an artist practising calligraphy show the deep-rooted nature of Chinese traditions.
