A documentary report on the modern day industrial revolution, Automation. It traces the earlier mechanization in industry and shows the application of the newer automation in present-day industry. Between the extremes of considering automation a menace to our way of life, or as the solution of every problem, the film presents viewpoints on the subjects ranging from a working man to the head of I.B.M. All state it is inevitable. Automation is shown in such industries as the automotive, aviation, baking, electronics, manufacturing industries and many others.
