A selection of 200 illustrations are used in this survey of cartoon and caricature in Britain over the past 250 years. In dealing with the present century the film shows work by artists such as Bateman, Port, Fougasse, Ronald Searle, Osbert Lancaster, Gibs, Vicky and David Low. Low is shown at work on a cartoon of Clement Attlee and Sir Winston Churchill. Other artists whose work is featured include James Gillroy, Thomas Rowlandson, George Cruikshank, Charles Keene, George du Maurier, John Tenneil, Phil May and Max Beerbohm.
