The story of the search for oil in a Middle East sheikhdom. This “calculated risk” involved ten years of planning and work, and an investment of some 25 million pounds. Shows how, in the case of the Umm Shaif underwater oilfield at Abu Dhabi on the Arabian Gulf, this immense engineering project culminated in the departure of tankers for Europe with the first cargoes of crude oil.
