Deals with the equipment used in the handling of ships’ cargoes. Among the mechanical appliances shown are various types of crane, pick-up devices, hoppers, conveyors to transport goods from holds to railway trucks, grain elevators, floating elevators, motor tractors and trailers, electric tractors, fork-lift trucks, elevating trucks, the Ross carrier, and power-operated truck mover. Demonstrates how this equipment enables goods to be handled more quickly, so increasing the capacity of the docks.
