The Charter and the main organs of the United Nations. Traces the historical background to the Charter, the broad principles laid down in its preamble and shows scenes of the meeting at which it was signed. Describes the membership and functions of the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, the Trusteeship Council, the International Court of Justice and the United Nations Secretariat. Beautifully photographed and interspersed with newsreels and stock footage of both world wars. Compiled by V.R. Sarma; commentary by Alistair Cooke and Michael Allinson.
