Diagrams and models illustrate the geography, topography and brief geological history of the island. Subject-matter covered includes: transport on the island; water supply for irrigation; typical scenery in Western Crete; variations in climatic conditions throughout the island; agricultural pursuits; soil erosion resulting from excessive removal of trees for firewood; declining soil fertility of the land.
