Rehearsals of Louise Dale Spoor’s adaptation of Mark Twain’s “Tom Sawyer” are used to illustrate the work of the director in the performance of a stage play. Shows the first reading of the play by cast and director followed by a discussion of the play, its actions and characters; preliminary work on the stage floor, rehearsals without props; recording of action times and stage movements; the first dress rehearsal.
