A number of “jumbo” wool bales has been experimentally packed and shipped from Australia as part of an effort to increase efficiency in the wool industry. Each bale weighs 450 kgs in contrast to the standard 150 kgs bale. The weight and shape of the new bale fully utilizes economies of mass handling equipment and procedure.
