More than 20,000 farmers and their families were eking a bare existence in the Kaira District of India. Through a modern milk plant, contstructed with the co-operation of UNICEF, the Food and Agriculture Organisation, the Government of India, New Zealand (under the Colombo Plan) and their own co-operative, scores of communities are benefiting, as well as the thousands of school children who are receiving daily rations of safe milk.
