Looks at the Columbia River as a wild and untamed stream coursing through its beautiful mountain region, sparsely populated but replete with history. Many of the old shot towns and abandoned mines, destined to extinction due to plans for a giant hydro-electric scheme which would transform the whole valley, are shown.
