A film of Malay village life and the efforts of a son to free the family home from debt. Hassan, after five years’ absence, returns to his kampong to find his father dying and the family heavily in debt. All the family work hard to cultivate the paddy fields but they need more money to tide them over until the rice can be harvested. Hassan is about to mortgage the new crop when he hears of the Co-operative Society which helps him to sell his crop on the highest market and clear his debt.
