Presents the instruments which comprise the string section of an orchestra and shows various musical effects which are obtained from the violin, viola, cello, string bass, and harp. Explains the principles of sound production in string instruments and shows how the violin is played. Explains that the piano is a string instrument which is often used in solo position with an orchestra.
