The origin of the concept of international law and the evolvement of the role of the International Court of Justice in the Hague, in deciding legal disputes between States. Its work and function are illustrated in the controversy between Norway and the United Kingdom concerning fishing rights, the disputed frontier land between Belgium and the Netherlands, and the dispute between Cambodia and Thailand regarding the territorial sovereignty of a holy monastery.
