Drawing materials and tools, such as pencils, pen and ink, tempera, watercolor, felt-tip pens and oil pastels have different qualities that can be discovered through experiment. Chalk goes on quickly and easily creating soft, muted effects; brilliantly colored crayons can make a line hard and sharp or soft and blurry. Shows drawings by Degas, Leonardo da Vinci, Cezanne, Van Gogh.
