The winning of iron ore from the earth at Cockatoo Island on Yampi Sound (Western Australia). Recalls the history of the region mentioning the importance of the pearling industry in the earlier part of the century. Shows the amenities provided for the residents of Cockatoo Island; views the extraction of the iron ore; transportation by trucks and conveyor belts to primary and secondary crushing plants; loading of the ore on to ships.
